Celtic Colours Festival
'Big Square Dance in Little Narrows'

I was thrilled to have had the chance to attend the square dance that took place on the Little Narrows ferry during Celtic Colours.  They were having a luncheon in the hall beforehand which was a bonus.

I learned too late that a workshop on how to square dance was also happening in the hall before the luncheon.  I arrived at the hall just as the workshop was about to end. About 30 people were enthusiastically swinging each other around with a fiddler in the background to keep them in step.

A little luncheon with hot soup and a tea biscuit is just what was need before the group moved outside and down to the ferry.  Of course, tea and a dessert were also served.  Funny to note that some folks asked for coffee......you are now in Cape Breton where only tea is served.

setting the scene

The sky was looking like rain but it cleared and the outdoor square dance on the ferry was a go.  What a great idea for Celtic Colours!  Everyone loved it! About 12 couples danced to the tunes of a piper and guitar player.  They looked like they were having a great time.  Temperature was a bit cool but the dancing took care of anyone feeling chilly.

It was awesome. As you can see I was able to take several pictures. I was also able to take a short video of the square dance.  It has been viewed over 46,000 times on facebook.  Have a watch!

Anyone attending Celtic Colours needs to put this on their list of events to attend.  Original and unique.....congratulations!
