My great grandfather George Downie worked on this clock when he was a young man. He was training to be a clock/watchmaker and repairman and jeweler. He was born in Halifax in July 4th, 1880, so perhaps it was around 1895 - 1900 that he was learning his trade. He had a very successful business in Malden Massachusetts for his career. He passed away in 1973 when I was 17. It's always been a source of pride for our family that he got to work on your famous clock!
